Adding Products

Below is a selection of resources from the official WooCommerce documentation to help you get started with adding products in WooCommerce:

Image Sizes

It's recommended to upload product-images with a resolution of at least 800x800 pixels.

It's also a good idea to make sure all product-images have the same size so they align in the shop-catalog.

The product-images on the demo site has a resolution of 1400x1600 pixels.

Image Size Settings

When a product-image is uploaded there will be two different sizes/versions created based on the WooCommerce image-size settings.

These images are displayed on the various shop-pages (like the Catalog, Single-product and Cart pages).

The image-size settings are available in the WordPress Customizer (since WooCommerce v3.3):

  • Navigate to AppearanceCustomize in the WordPress admin.
  • In the page-preview, navigate to the main Shop page.
  • Select WooCommerceProduct Images in the sidebar on the left.

The default sizes should be set on theme-activation, but if you need to enter them manually you can use the details listed below:

Main/single-product image:

  • Width: 810 (pixels)
  • Height: (resized automatically based on the image aspect-ratio)

Catalog/thumbnail image:

  • Width: 690 (pixels)
  • Height: (resized automatically based on the image aspect-ratio)

More details on the WooCommerce image-size settings are available on this page.
